About us

At Friare Liv (a Freer Life), we are working with Nonviolent Communication (NVC), also known as Giraffe language.

We teach NVC, work with mediation and counseling and run a publishing house.

Currently, we are three people working at Friare Liv AB. For some assignments and projects we also cooperate with our network.

Friare Liv Consulting was founded in 1992 by Liv Larsson. By 1999, we worked mainly with individual, group, and leadership development, including the so-called UGL courses, based on a variety of theories and methods.

From 1999 onwards, we have increasingly focused on teaching and learning Nonviolent Communication. We offer open trainings and year long programs and work within companies and organisations. For us, NVC is the most effective approach individuals and groups may have to live a life of choicefulness.

2002 we also started a publishing house for books on Nonviolent Communication. It started with no publishing house, within a reasonable time, couldn't publish Marshall Rosenberg's book Nonviolent Communication A Language of Life, in Swedish. At the same time our students wanted to read in Swedish ... We then published Rosenberg's book ourself, and today we have published more than 24 books about NVC, many of them written by Liv Larsson.

Our books are also published in English, German, Polish, Estonian, Finnish, Dutch and Thai.

2011, we became registered company and we're now called Friare Liv AB.

We walk our talk

At Friare Liv, we not only teach about Nonviolent Communication. We actively seek ways to live according to NVC.

In this way, we always see how more needs can be satisfied in ourselves, with those we meet and people in the community. For instance, we're working with need-based economy and organic growth - without interest.

Our approach to money

For us, money is a strategy to satisfy needs.

When we offer training courses, books, consulting, mediation etc. many of our own needs satisfy. It is about the need to contribute, give meaning, learning and contact.

Liv Larsson

Liv Larsson has worked as a consultant, mediator, coach and trainer in her company FRIARE LIV since 1992.

Previously, she served as a UGL facilitator. Today, she specializes in approachNonviolent Communication (giraffe language). She is trained by the founder of NVC, Marshall Rosenberg.

Liv is also a writer. 2008 published her book, Creating contact and meetings through mediation, 2009 Led as you learn and 2010 Anger, guilt and shame, three sides of the same coin. She has written twelve books on communication, empathic listening, conflict management, mediation, rate management, shame, guilt and anger.

Lasse Lundberg

Lasse Lundberg is specialized in work and development issues.

He has a profound interest in mediation, leadership and communication. Lasse is a forest officer who has worked as Regional Manager, Development specialist, executive vice president and manager in the wood and transport industries, both in Sweden and abroad.

Lasse got in to NVC when he came in contact with it through Friare Liv year 2002. He has since then been a diligent student in the company and used the approach in both work and personal life.

Kay Rung

Kay Rung is an empathy teacher, mediator and book publisher.

He has worked as a consultant and trainer in Sweden and internationally since 1998. He runs the company FRIARE LIV together with Liv Larsson.

Kay has worked with communication coaching and mediation with Nonviolent Communication (the giraffe language) as a starting point since 2001.

He specializes in assisting the parties in conflict to find their way back to a contact whoenable collaboration. Together with the Liv, he has developed an educational model to teach mediation. The model is described in Liv Larsson's book Creating meetings and contact through mediation, and is used in the courses Friare Liv organizes.

We work in both Sweden and internationally with education and mediation. Clients include the UN, the Forum for constructive conflict management and Månteatern (the Moon theater).
